Women’s Affairs Center concludes training in the Ministry of Social Affairs

 October 2016, WAC concludes training on psychosocial support and referral system for the social counselors in MOSA within the project of “Implementing Partner Agreement for UNFPA Programme Cyclefunded by UNFPA. The project mainly aims at raising the awareness on reproductive health, supporting the community networks to defend women’s reproductive health rights and GBV, and strengthen capacities in life skills.

“The training was 30 hours for 30 male and female social counselors, psychologists and supervisors from MOSA on psychosocial support and referral system in the five governorates of the Gaza Strip”, said Hana’a Zant the project coordinator. She added that this activity is considered as one of the main and significant activities in partnership with MOSA which targeted the staff of the women and youth vocational training centers.

The training topics included the following; psychosocial support concepts, psychological support for families, referral system for GBV victims, and strategies for intervention in empowering families to achieve psychosocial stability. The participants agree together on the benefits they gained from the training in which they become more aware regarding psychosocial support and referral system. In addition, they now have the tools to help the cases and start use their knowledge and experience in following up and managing the cases. They also recommend the necessity of conducting such trainings and increasing the practical activities.
