Gaza – Nov. 2013- Educate all of the society segments, especially women, with the subject of inheritance, and to define them with the necessary legal procedures for women to have their rights in inheritance, that was the main objective of holding (36) awareness workshops and provide legal advices to (737) beneficiaries of men, women and young people in all areas of Gaza Strip during September and October this year in collaboration with grassroots institutions in Gaza Strip.

These workshops and consulting come within the project of "Women's right in inheritance 2 – promoting the social and economic rights for the Palestinian women by promoting gaining inheritance." Which is implemented by WAC in Gaza and funded by the European Union through the church aids with partnership of YMCA and Women's Center for Legal and Community Aid in West Bank.

According to Rim Al Nairab, the project coordinator, the most important topics which were covered in the workshops were inheritance, dissociation, ought behest, obstacles that face women's access to their inheritance and how to get their inheritance by law.

Al Nairab said: " The main aim of the project is to increase access of the Palestinian women to their inheritance and property as a mean of economic and social empowerment by raising their awareness of laws, violations and implications of discriminations against women's ownership, amd provide help to support anti-discrimination against women."

She added: "  One of the main activities that will be during the project, which will continue for three years, educational sessions for the Palestinian communities to increase their ability to address women's rights in inheritance, provide individual and group counseling for women about inheritance, make a study about women's access to have their rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, put a structure for the inheritance department in the Ministry of Justice to manage the inheritance, and a national advocate campaign."
